About Valot
Valot is a time-tracking app for Linux built by an independent developer in a GNOME style. You start and stop timers against projects and clients, then review your hours on a reports page and export them. The core app works completely offline and stores data locally, exporting to PDF and its own database format. Optional extensions add calendar export as ICS files (for Google Calendar, Nextcloud or Apple Calendar), a tag system, a system-tray tracker for GNOME and Xfce and task notes; extension support is switched on in preferences. Holding the tracking button for a few seconds starts a Pomodoro mode. There is no mobile app, but a companion progressive web app, Valot in Pocket, runs in a phone or desktop browser. Valot is free, with no paid plan; the developer offers custom work for businesses instead. It is distributed mainly through Flathub. It suits Linux freelancers who want a simple local tracker rather than a cloud service.
Best for: Linux freelancers who want a simple, offline time tracker with PDF reports.
