About listmonk

listmonk is an open-source newsletter and mailing list manager that you run on your own server. It ships as a single binary with PostgreSQL as its only dependency, and it is known for speed: it can manage millions of subscribers and send large campaigns quickly through any SMTP provider, such as Amazon SES, Postmark or your own mail server. Features include lists and segmentation with SQL queries, a rich text, HTML and Markdown editor, templates, subscriber import, double opt-in, campaign analytics, transactional email through an API, and multi-user permissions. It is free under the AGPLv3 licence, so your costs are hosting and whatever your sending provider charges, which makes it far cheaper than SaaS tools at scale. The trade-offs are that you handle installation, updates, backups and deliverability yourself, there is no visual automation builder or drag-and-drop email editor, and support comes from the community.

Best for: Technical teams that want to send large newsletters cheaply on their own server.
